José Luis Alonso has a degree in Economics, a degree in law, a diploma in Community or EU Law and a degree in History from various Spanish universities.
He has worked during his career as a director, from 1986 to January 2020, in legal firms in Madrid, Bilbao and Seville. He has also worked as an arbitrator in the Courts of Arbitration of Madrid, Toledo, and Valencia.
In corporate practise it is worth mentioning his time as Director of the Legal Department for Spain of two Dutch and British multinationals; External Legal Advisor since 1995 in the Commercial, Procedural and Criminal fields of different financial entities, such as Banco Santander, and in the specific area of professional Civil Liability and Surety of Insurance Companies.
José Luis worked as a Director and/or General Secretary and/or of the Board of Directors and Legal Adviser, successively in 1997-2007, for three companies in the property sector listed on the stock exchange, one part of IBEX-35, and in 2008-2009 as Secretary-Director on the Board of a company governed by French law, the largest property company in France, listed on the Paris stock exchange.
His career has gone hand in hand with teaching, and he has worked as a lecturer in many universities and training centres. José Luis is a regular speaker at various seminars on legal matters, notably those on Arbitration, Real Estate Law and Corporate Governance.
